You can delete your DepositMonsters account at any time, without giving a reason. The fastest way is through the app itself and it works immediately; if you no longer have access to it, a single e-mail is enough.
From inside the app
- Open the app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- On the dashboard, tap the Sparkling portrait in the health card at the top of the screen. Account settings will open.
- At the bottom of the settings screen choose Delete account.
- Confirm twice. The second question spells out what you are losing; if the account holds an ad-free licence, it mentions that too.
Deletion happens immediately. All sessions on all devices stop working at once, and signing back in to that account is no longer possible.
From outside the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, send a message to support@depositmonsters.com with the subject Account deletion.
In the message give us one of two things:
- your six-character account code - it is shown in the app on the challenges screen, under your Sparkling name (the code you give friends so they can challenge you); or
- the e-mail address the account was created with - ideally writing from that very address.
Before we delete an account we have to be sure it belongs to the person asking. If the message arrives from an address other than the account address, we will ask for confirmation - otherwise knowing someone else’s account code would be enough to wipe their Sparkling. We never ask for your password or card details in the process.
We carry out the request without undue delay and no later than 30 days after confirming your identity, and we confirm it by e-mail.
What gets deleted
The moment the account is deleted:
- the account stops working - it is marked as deleted and cannot be signed in to by any method;
- all sign-in identities disappear (Google, Apple), along with the e-mail address, display name and password hash;
- the public account code disappears, and with it your Sparkling name, because that name is the same code written in syllables. The account stops being findable in the rival search, and the freed code may in time go to someone else;
- we revoke every session - refresh tokens on all devices stop working instantly;
- we delete device records together with notification tokens, so there is nowhere left to send a notification;
- we revoke the Apple link on Apple’s side if you signed in with Apple. This is an App Store requirement and we do it before deleting the token needed for that operation;
- your Sparkling, Charge, crate, gang, challenges, matches and the DepositMonsters Tycoon link become unreachable and lose their connection to any identity: there is no account left to reach them from, and no code to find them by.
What stays, and why
- The hash of the licence purchase receipt and the licence status. It is proof of purchase and the basis for settling with the store, and at the same time the only safeguard against one purchase unlocking many accounts. We keep the hash, never the receipt itself, and never payment details. The retention period follows from accounting and limitation-of-claims rules [to be confirmed by the lawyer].
- Reactivation Zones on the shared map. They describe a machine, not a player, and they serve everyone else. Once the account is deleted, the discoverer noted on the Zone no longer points to an existing account.
- Anonymous traces of fair-play mechanisms - flags on suspicious settlements and mini-game runs, needed so the same abuse can be recognised again. They contain no data identifying a person.
- Records required by law, should any arise - in particular those connected with settling licence sales and defending against claims [to be completed by the lawyer: full list and periods].
What we never keep: receipt photographs (we never store them at all), GPS coordinates (they expire on their own after roughly 26 hours) and payment details (we never receive them).
Deleting data without deleting the account
Some things can be switched off without deleting the account - and that is often enough. Everything below works from the settings screen, reached through the Sparkling portrait on the dashboard.
- Muting notifications deletes the device token from our database. From that moment we have nowhere to send a notification. The system permission is withdrawn separately, in your phone settings.
- Withdrawing advertising consent opens the same form the consent was given in. The row appears wherever the form exists at all, that is in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.
- Location permission is withdrawn in your phone settings. Without it the whole game works except for one thing: confirming your presence at a machine, which means settling receipts.
- Signing out revokes the session on that device and does not touch the account.
The scope and legal bases of processing are described in the privacy policy, and the rules of using the game in the terms of service. For personal data matters write to support@depositmonsters.com.
